The Mission

Brother Thomas and Brother Will stood at the big bay window of the commons room watching Mallory run his dog through training exercises on the grassy sports field. Mallory was due to leave the next day.

“Back in Idaho,” Brother Will said, “my uncle has a German Shepherd kennel where they do Schutzhund training. For police work.”

Thomas raised an enquiring eyebrow.

“Maybe Mr. Mallory might need a job when he leaves and he’s real good with that pup.”

“Very thoughtful of you, Brother Will.”
